on reading koestler and understanding cubism as poem

Post by sweetwater » January 17th, 2013, 1:42 pm

understanding cubism

johannes kepler put an end or evolved the heliocentrism of the greeks

the circular obsession as koestler stated ... to a spherical representation

where everything in the universe consisted of spheres and cones

the spheres and cones were represented by cubism as cylinders

cones and spheres and thus 'cubist'

the painting style and implication was philosophical and related

to an understanding or to say the least a 'supposition'

about the universe and ourselves, who we are and what are we are doing

on an alleged heliocentric ball of water

circling around a hot fire and radioactive sun

in a sphere or cone or cylinder ???

good question

of course koestler proposes that the extension of the sphere

cone or cylinder analogy implies that the orbit is elliptical and not circular

and thus

the circle obsession and helio pontification was also

the great middle aged debate on who

was right and who owned the rights to tell others

what was right and what was wrong

and therefore in pure poetic sarcastic fashion

a black hole is elliptical

and that there is not an elliptical math

that can be comprehended ... if the ellipse itself

has many variations

so not only the idea of math as design as a box

and square to explain the circle thus

but the confusion even more to explain the 'pi'

of the ellipse even more ... and even more of a complicated bust

so better to create art and make love

then to argue about black holes and mathematical absurdities

or discrepancies

than to figure out the elliptical math of koestler

though i think it to be different

i think it is a sphere of perfectly rounded objects

You have a neat train of thought or thoughts going through this poem conjuring up subjects like those in whirlwind or hurricane and taking the reader for the ride of a life time. Enjoyed. 8)
