they invented UFO's and killed Kennedy
by the same ones that wanted it this way
that's why all those teenagers ate LSD
to blot it all out in the sixties
forget that the fifties tried to mold us
into one dimensional man
that's why the beatniks said man so much
and like it was cool man to not be too cool

we all kissed our asses goodby
and said the phony words with a hand over
our broken forever hearts
and we said the six was nine
like Jimi before they drowned him in mystic wine
we all drank the cool aid man
and we read the news today, oh boy
because of this they shot Lorca
and the poet in New York
they shot the underground film of paradise
they shot it full of devil in the detail holes

they murdered John Lennon
because he sang about how we imagine all this
gunned down I have a dream and your little god too
if we were all Bukowski on that funky typewriter
and banged out the moth eaten god forsaken words
we might find out why Hitler cared so much about us
might find out what mickey mouse really meant

the shit hits the fan every time they open their pie holes
every time the wonderful multinationals pay them off
and water boarded the whole government in a bath tub
and the good law abiding citizens take another pill for fun
the one made of cow dung and pulverized principles
