Written after hearing So Alive by Love & Rockets

dark
1989
Quebec and the bold old river
and another cup of coffee for the road
and there in a short sweet black skirt
and a smile
a cold French Canadian smile
a ski slope of insincere white lies
the roses of my red red heart fall
call
as silent as a dead bee
the wind tossing thorns
oh love
where have you gone?
into the confetti of my dreams
Mardi Gras
New Orleans
all wear masks
the task is to love
splashing the rose water of love
hosing down the dust
washing away the rust
red red blood
love why have you faded so
the wind tap dances on the trees
the St Lawrence flows into shadow
love a forgotten shoe
the Dufferin Terrace empty of tourists
of stars
and I am so alone
a stalk without a flower
this
wind-struck dry hour
The Irish Sea Is Always In Turmoil, Even When Calm.

If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
