France
bloodied
punks
yelling "God is Great"
after murdering
12 people
the real God
can only be stunned
by these mindless
no, mindless is too civilized a word
"sin" is too calm a word
"barbaric" is too polite a term
a poem is inappropriate
to contain the primal scream
against
such
lumps of hate
bastards c**ksuckers Sh*ts
catch them and you want
to pound them with your fists
choke
let the blood be cut off
gouge their brains
and here we are
trying to civilize ourselves
the world
trying to make beauty
guide a bonsai to miniature growth
paint a kitchen wall fresh light green
hum "Be Happy"
never never never
the ape shit stops
the snake shows us good and evil
the world cries cries cries
such infinite sorrow
in this redeemed
best of all possible worlds
the Divine Plan
screwed
forever the cross
and the human wrist riveted
the ankle bones snapped
concussion upon concussion
why why why y y y
and what kind of
unpublishable
unread poem is this?
what kind of dive into the dark pit of the brain
is this
? ? ?
and how do you write a repulsive convulsive sound
the cries
bitter
humanity
and we aren't healing from the barbarity of our gods
that allow
such evil
in the world
in our own stupid little minds
the wringing of our heart
the ringing
clanging

Re: France of Our Day: title of a French grammar book
Would we even be here
if Bush had not started his war in Iraq
the media still pretends that 9/11
was Arabs with box cutters, and nothing else
besides
cartoons are now under attack
but don't look now but, they liked to put poets
in latrines in Turkey, Desnos died in a German
concentration camp, I could of died in a Santa
Cruz city jail, for being a drunk poet, I had
blood poisoning, and was having a kind of
psychic breakdown
Religion either starts wars, or is the unwitting
indirect cause of such atrocities as the French
cartoon slaughter, the congress is mostly white
Christians, who sell us out to corporations for God
attacks on free expression, create more attacks
by those who want to take our free speech away
oh how cynical are those shadow governments
who create all this mayhem behind the scenes
CIA created mayhem, cynical Jihadist extremism
but what about French colonialism, what goes around?
comes back, call it blowback, or call it no hijab
Believe me I am all for 'The Satanic Verses'
but Mohamed is not more a funny target
then Jesus or Buddha, make fun of Buddha
and see what happens, I don't know the race
thing in Europe, right wingers blame everything
on them, others, those refugees, hijab wearing
women
how did we arrive at this juncture, the clash
of civilizations, when will the real war criminals
be tried for their crimes in a court of law
Voltaire said he may not agree with your views
but he will defend your right to say it
but where does the buck fuck face stop
is Mickey Mouse and Goofy racist?
was Bugs Bunny a revolutionary
what's up Doc? what would Charley Brown say
Life is like a cartoon, cartoons are like life
and sometimes you die for them
we need more poetry, viva la poetry!

Re: France of Our Day: title of a French grammar book
In America democracy has two enemies (at least two)----foreign: the jihadists (even if perpetrators were born here, the mindset is alien) and domestic: the corporations. You can't fight both at the same time. Maybe the corporations promote the jihadists to get the rank and file Americans' minds off the power grab BUT the jihadists are deadly and not to be excused, not to be explained away by PC. States like ISIS or ISIL must be eradicated. It is an offense against basic humanity. Okay, how do we stop the world's exploitation by the one per centers, the World Bank, etc.? Not by killing but by an intense war of ideas. Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren----what people like them say and do is important.
Maybe there can't be compromise with either enemy but we have to fight the one with police, armies, navies, etc. . The other must be an Occupy Wall Street takeover of the reins and an attempt to bring rational and compassionate liberal values back to this country and a government of the people, by the people and for the people.
There will always be unintended consequences to any action we take. There will always be problems, imperfections, imperfect and/or criminal people BUT hopefully the problems, though very real, will be less than we have now. Never will there be utopia but we can make the world better. At this point that seems a very tall order. Either we try or we slip further into the mire, lose what democracy and sanity we have. However, we can't be PC liberals. We have to be compassionate, rational and see things and people as they are, and we must prioritize our actions against the worst and threatening of humanity.
The devil is in the devils. How do you remain a decent human being in a war?

Yes.
Yes, it was, and yes it will go on . . .
We've grown accustomed to it, it seems.
We seem to accept it.
