I can't get punk these days, not
without those crappy speakers I had
when I first heard Johnny Rotten sneer.
"You won't find me working nine to five;
it's too much fun, being a-live."
"Yea, hell no!" I screamed.
On my day off.
Rude boy Brits in the street
spat right in the face of London,
and war and empire and decency.
Oh God the noise, lock 'em all up,
and your little dog too, Dorothy.
Squash the rock'n roll rebellion!
That noise, that fucking noise.

Re: Last Days of Punk
coming out of the psychedelic 60's I remember the first garage punk,
I hung out with a musician in my late teenage years, 17 18 when
we got into psychedelics and psychedelic music, I liked the Rolling Stones
The Animals, Beatles, English Blues, Dylan, Donovan, Love, Doors, Hendrix,
and so much more, There was a period in the early 70's where I kind lost
my sense of the music scene, It was changing so fast, by the time Punk
came along, I already was a little too old to be a punk, I listened to it
when it was playing, and I liked some of it, but I never really got into it.
Like the punk look, but I could relate to the attitude, and the raw sound.
Of all the music I have on my iphone and computer, there is no punk music.
I got some Lou Reed.

" somethings happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear, there's a man with a gun over there, telling me I got to beware, hey children what's that sound, everybody look what's goin' down "
that's not punk, of course, but it flashed in my head, so I typed it...now I could use a hit of Patti Smith

Re: Last Days of Punk
Yeah, it was spontaneous combustion, which never lasts, and sometimes looks silly in the rear-view. I just remember the raw energy and audacity of it. These cretins suddenly took on "civilization" itself, and all of its hoary, sacred trinkets, in the most rude and direct frontal attack way imaginable ... And it was pretty good for awhile ...
