me-time

Post by saw » August 1st, 2015, 12:21 pm

should be hustling up some carpenter gigs
using this imagination that ended up here
in the middle of this poem... alongside my heart, that does
come alive, in a therapeutic-bouquet of mixed sawdust

and it does feel good crossing numbered items
from a customer's list of tiny projects they have accumulated like cobwebs,
intending to wipe them out for the last fifteen years....their smiles get wider
as they see their personal visions come to life like a friendly frankenstein

like the one on the cereal box....but today isn't the day for that
this day will be hand planed for only me, the sharp edges
of my contentment will be shaved into curls, then sanded with 220 grit,
the telephone will need to be ignored and isolated like a drunken uncle

I will also eschew the PC.... tomorrow I may be more inclined
to adhere to convention, I may be more willing to search
for sources of wealth that have nothing to do with hedonism
maybe tomorrow I can throw the big rocker-switch in my medulla to ON

it's not really any kind of misappropriation , it's more
like jumping jacks, taking your multi-vitamins
soaking in a hot tub of swirling minerals, but me-time
is not an option for the refugee, for the homeless man

I totally get this, no
me-time
is only a choice
for the marginally affluent
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Me time what's that? Lol
And above me the stars align
But not yet with my own
And the night birds sing
Whilst the demon haunts this restless soul.
