I am the thorn among the roses
Leaving my heart to the mess I make
Leaving my soul to the rotted dark.
Fighting is useless so it would seem
But there is a reason to fight
Like my soldier who awaits deployment.
I am sad that he wants to go
I support him even so
And I will wait for his arrival home.
However my own soul looks to dawn
And I see there's no other reason
No one wants me anyway.

My longing
And above me the stars align
But not yet with my own
And the night birds sing
Whilst the demon haunts this restless soul.

Re: My longing
a lot of blackness in this jess on a number of levels....the darkness of war, relationships, personal lack of self-worth....I hope this was just a moment of of doubt that needed to be expressed in order to let it all go.....from my perspective, if this is autobiographical as I suspect....I want you here....writing poetry.....unburdening the darkness.....you have a poetry family that has been there....write on !
