It's the Thought that Counts

how strangly empty the sites I visit are
no-one seems to be around
my first thought
the folks I normally see
they've received gifts that they didn't like
now they're at the stores
returning them
exchanging them
to meet their own desires
I know it's allowed
it's also pretty common these days
it seems that there's just no appreciation
not for the givers anyway
I guess those days are gone
it's the thought that counts
isn't very popular anymore
