moved by words not my own

these coming words are not my own
but they are more than worth my utterance,
worth repeating, these words that hang
on the wall above my desk, they are the words
of a troubled genius that struggled to just
exist in a world than often disappointed
and so it was in this infinite jest
they were hatched, brought into the light
and I am honored to share them with you

involves attention and awareness and discipline

and effort and being able to truly care about
other people and to sacrifice for them,

over and over in myriad petty little un-sexy ways
every day. That is real freedom.

The alternative is unconsciousness."
