Spirit Walker

Follow the whispering trail up the fire mountain

past sun bleached bones gathering to celebrate the wedding

this announced by shifting shadows

drifting up from the valley of the night

the spirit walker remembers the old medicine mans words

still held close then from his youth

the circle dancer, the chant

slip away to distant time

before remembering closed the eyes

out side of the mind

the woman of the raven clan walks the trail

waiting the moons milk blue velvet light 
to dream the world in

singing to the spirit walker 
on the whispering trail

the tree of desire grows high on fire mountain

a misty shifting world shimmers in the air

only dancing feet can cross the bridge of light 
at the sundown hour

then to wait the full moon rising 
beside the lake of dreams

the bed of finest Cedar leaves
 with the lovers blanket
awaits the cusps of time 
to meet again

the child will know the ways of the ancient ones
