school vs life

Post by Brian mclaughlin » February 28th, 2016, 10:11 am

Learning school rules
rather than life
fills conversations
with nothing but strife

offense is then taken
and in foolish haste
arguments do ensue
and time goes to waste

so little accomplished
by those who do fight
and it makes no damned difference
by day or by night
When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. So it is better to speak. ~ Audre Lorde

this is a pet peeve of mine...the failure of the school system to develop critical thinkers....
Education is missing half of the pieces, settling in on strictly the rote method of pushing details that aren't that earth shaking.....There are many prongs to a balanced education, many schools have given up completely on the humanities....and are teaching to The Test

of course perhaps that's not with this poem is about at all ..HA HA....at least I got to blow off some steam....HA again
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
