In the balance
the weaver of waters
now in sunlight ,
now in darkness
so much time has slipped away
an ultraviolet kiss on the sea
deep woods path finder
I hear that old song
its just the moon up in the sky
its just a tear drop in my eye
take it down ,let it fall
its just the moon
....I recall
then the sweet notes
in
the heat of the summer swims a yellow moon
cats eye rising
sing the river
shimmering light in your eyes recalled
oh then dear heart
how we held the heart of the moon
our
first love
that old yellow moon knows the heart of the memory
so softly
smiling at the first kiss
she was ours
Heart Of The Moon
Re: Heart Of The Moon
This poem is lovely.
It reminds me of Sandburg's "Valley Song Poem":
____________________________________________________
Your eyes and the valley are memories.
Your eyes fire and the valley a bowl.
It was here a moonrise crept over the timberline.
It was here we turned the coffee cups upside down.
And your eyes and the moon swept the valley.
I will see you again to-morrow.
I will see you again in a million years.
I will never know your dark eyes again.
These are three ghosts I keep.
These are three sumach-red dogs I run with.
All of it wraps and knots to a riddle:
I have the moon, the timberline, and you.
All three are gone -- and I keep all three.

I can't help but hear his voice when I read some of your poems.
Considering how much I admire him and his poetry, this is a
high compliment indeed.

Re: Heart Of The Moon
the song is sweet,
"its just the moon up in the sky
its just a tear drop in the eye
take it down, let in fall
its just the moon.....I recall"
I can hear it repeat over and over in the poem....in the background...being sung by children
okay, perhaps I'm losing my mind....but really....just sayin'....I can hear it, sweet and low
( not the artificial sweetener )..ha ha
very nice ride
