I THINK TOO MUCH...
I THINK TOO MUCH...
I THINK TOO MUCH…
living in a fragile world where only metal, crude and diamonds are wanted
where the death of trees cause not a blink or the demise
of the rhino is a byline
get it while you can as fast as you can as quick as the
flight of a red tailed jet
leaving me behind to contemplate this fragility
what is the difference? i wonder about the paper thin skin
that covers me in white
now black and blue and red all overrun with sheets of
gauze and tape
o, who cares really? problems are rife with strife and
condemnation
leaving me here in the now you’ve done it
living long enough to realize i lived long enough
to contemplate these thoughts:
each day is an opportunity for white men in suits
playing catch with balls
dis-incorporation nation building walls for outcasts
to keep out the dogs & riffraff
leaving me singing a long slow funeral dirge
hey! i say to no-one in particular because no-one
is particular in this line of work
watching the species take liberties of liberty
ruing the daze end
that tree or bird or stream stands, sings, flows
through the maze of amazement
leaving me on this dusty path to armageddon
streams of internet overrun rocks and stones
which have no matter
none look up nor down or out or inside this
this this this backwards glance
value is just a sale that flashes on the sidelines
of did you get it?
leaving me a smidgen of religion
this pain is not just skin washed over bones
it goes around the world
a crack in the cosmic egg scrambles before
breakfast is done
take this poem for instance because, for one,
its free for the taking
leaving me thinking… i think too much

Re: I THINK TOO MUCH...
solid...yet amorphous ruminations from the heart and mind...so necessary for any conscious being...the alternative is a blank slate....enjoyed the wordplay and direction....keep 'em coming... .....we need thinkers more than ever.... ....I always tell my kids, the world doesn't need more college degrees, it needs more problem solvers....it needs more tuning in the heartbeats of everything alive, be it plant or animal...or....... those that are flexible will be the ones that keep going....the un-thinkers will fade away from no ability to adapt...
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading

Re: I THINK TOO MUCH...
loved your poem sister
please pardon me for taking another GO at it.
That's why they call us homo sapiens
pity about the bystanders, the innocent children of all
I work three days a week at Wally World™
best part of the job is watching people
see how those parents love their children
yes thinking man had dropped a great load of knowledge on his way to the technological marvels of corporate democracy.
save us from the improves of mankind
they come to us to do good
but stay to do well
don't mean nothin' just having a GO at it
fine poem

Sooz, I guess you (and the empty-minded one) were that rare chance (maybe not so "chance," since I was googling Kerouc when I found Litkicks) connection that has stuck with me longer than I could have imagined. And you helped me shift my p.o.v away from human-centric to the bigger planet picture...
But ya gotta stay cool and help out where you can, and watch the birds in the back yard. In the end, that's about all you can do.

Re: I THINK TOO MUCH...
Thanks Mark. We found each other and since I think everything happens for a reason (for whatever reason), you and we were bound to meet.mnaz wrote:Sooz, I guess you (and the empty-minded one) were that rare chance (maybe not so "chance," since I was googling Kerouc when I found Litkicks) connection that has stuck with me longer than I could have imagined. Re: I THINK TOO MUCH...
Thinking
Perhaps feeling will not be still so then
too |to͞o|
adverb
1 [ as submodifier ] to a higher degree than is desirable, permissible, or possible; excessively: he was driving too fast | he wore suits that seemed a size too small for him.
• informal very: you're too kind.
2 in addition; also: is he coming too?
• moreover (used when adding a further point): she is a grown woman, and a strong one too.
I think to a higher degree than is desirable for making sense of this world ?
I think more than possible? excessively, searching for a reality?
I think very much
In addition I think moreover
the poem is about feeling, for me,that you are thinking a lot about the feelings
The poem has a heart for me
it feels the crazy world you are thinking overmuch about Ah but you are a poet,
thinking too much goes with the territory often, as does feeling things that folks often would rather not feel ,and often find ways to ignore.
you wrote
"that tree or bird or stream stands, sings, flows
through the maze of amazement"
The poem connects your thinking to the living world
I say now .To say I feel the poems heart
is to say the poem feels
The thinking may not want to be glad that it feels over much
but I am ,we need poets.

Isn't everyone a poet? I may be wrong (and am frequently) but I think so. Remember that old rhyme, "you're a poet but didn't know it"? My oldest son claims to hate poetry and that's the claim to fame (such as it is) of both his parents. Laughable, is it not? He is a writer and movie critic tho... so there's that.
All that thinking was thrown out the window in this stream of consciousness that I jump in to write stuff like this. It is just a flow and I am just an outlet. I liken myself to an extension cord...plugged in from the earth below to the uni-verse above. (If that makes any sense to you?) Just a tool, that's me.
It's nice to see what the poem means to someone but like any art, it's subjective and if it touches someone, like yourself, then it has served it's purpose. Thank you.
