after the North Beach poetry reading

[revolutionR]

the irate wind blows newspapers
down a dark street, the same old story
written a thousand different ways
the poet walks along the tall skyscrapers
watching the sheets of nothingness
fly by, as the poems from the reading
he just left play through his mind
but now the Frisco night is cold
and a fog comes to shroud him in mist
it's a journey through pea soup
and the wine is still floating through
dark windows of the office buildings go by
as he walks to the bus station that will take
him over the bay bridge to Berkeley
seeing his favorite poet recite at the Saloon
in North Beach, the king of beats
keeps a little spark in the tunnel
