when we drink the milk of the stars

when we drink the milk of the stars
we do so because we came from the stars
and we return to the stars

it is said that creation was made with words
but where did the words come from
this is why poets have to reinvent
words, as an alternative to the overarching
narrative that to this day seems
to only serve to confuse rather then to enlighten

this was evident to me at a very early age
not that I knew what I was being told
or not told was what I was to believe
but that the story did not come through
without a lot of distortion, I did not know
this, I sensed it

in other words I resisted the narrative
because it was a natural response
to the way the story was being told
it did not feel like it was coming direct
from the stars, it felt like it was being filtered
by intercessors that changed the pure
light coming through from the source

I can't explain how this happened to me
how do you describe childhood memories
because we are torn from childhood
to place us into class rooms
and or churches where we are told what to think
we are not allowed to find our own thought

this is where the poet comes in to find new ways
of telling stories with words that are liberated
from the cemented narrative, as it were

if was on that other poetry site, you know the one
I would be attacked for the way I write
which at times is not linear, that is because
I allow things that don't always follow
a strict English language

thus I say things I was told or not told
because how would I know what I was not told
but that is just the point, is it more what we are told
or what we are not told, are we kept in the dark
because, when we look up at the stars
they are always surrounded by night

but what I want to know is why would other poets
think they are heaping you by finding errors
in your correct English or grammar
as if that is the only reason to write poetry
to find fault like you are in a class room or a church
