how did we get to this point

This country is so divided against itself
capitalism cannot sustain so criminals
become the ruling elite
but how did we get to this point

I know it's absurd to imagine that the mother ships
will step in and save us poor humans
that they would have a declaration of galactic rights
that they would say enough is enough
that is time for this planet earth
to become part of the federation of planets
that they would bring healing technologies
and give every human on this world
a substantial income and free food and housing
that the evil corporations would be done away with
no more war or poverty ever again

but what do we have, a pompous billionaire
that spews a lot of language that sounds good
because everything is so bad, which really begs the issue
a lot of hype, because what else could it be
as people are so divided and crushed like bugs
and everything that has been shoveled under
the rugs that lie, because that is all they have ever done
is lie like a rug, and say we have to have a war on drugs
which really means a war on people

the people are considered the enemy, yes that's you
you are a people, the people are supposed to be
the voice of freedom, remember of for and by the people
what really happened is the fine print between the lines

falsehoods
is nothing new...

Be angry at the sun for setting
