Lights Out

Post by Ann Bingham » September 18th, 2017, 10:51 pm

LIGHTS OUT

Do you see the shadows of change?
The ancients were wrong, the world did not stop.
Death and destruction still abound, innocence is still lost
to the evil men do behind doors in public places.

Bullets and cannons, cannons and bombs, bombs and death
The raping of countries and people
Because father Sam says our way is the only way,
without a moral leg to stand on.

No one
.....Cares
..........About
...............Morality

No more virgins to lie prostrate before a god
who refuses to look upon us.
He cares little for our imitation donations
and false confessions of sorrow and shamefulness.

We are but a blot
Easily wiped away with Kleenex
But the remaining stain spreads,
a Decease immune to disinfectant.

No one
.....Will admit
..........They are
...............The decease.

Merrily we play, romping in a defiled bed
Full of excrements spilling from our mouths
Lying to ourselves, and our lovers, our friends, and our neighbors
Lying to our mothers, and our fathers, our sons, and our daughters
Lying to our gods, and our deities, our savior, and our souls.

Each generation has witnessed shadows of change
We just
.....Choose to
..........Turn out
...............The lights.

12:07 a.m.
I hear coyotes
upriver
sometimes I come upon their dens
deep in the forest
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.
