I was swimming
the ocean of unconsciousness was turbulent
but offered that view that always turns to pinkish sky
I was beneath the water
trying to make my way to the surface
the sunlight shown like cosmic tiki-torches of promise
my head popped through
a mermaid wearing the latest coral lipstick
kissed my cheek and I felt flush in hearts
the winning hand was royal
and straight, and I woke up in a Brazilian hammock thirsty
for sun-tea sweetened with agave nectar
I felt like a new man
born in the dreams of peyote afternoons with Don Juan
yet drug-free..... and higher than the moon

I've not used this word in print (possibly in sound) far longer than this old memory recalls ::
Your piece I found to be totally "SPLENDID!" A picture perfect journey for the mind.
(pssstt - "splendid"NOT to be construed in any way with the commercialized product which likely now owns the word, gawd forbid!)
