pandering to my unrelenting nature ( nothing more )

Post by saw » October 24th, 2021, 6:48 am

syllables are important to me
there is music in the precise numbers
and I must insist the rhythm cannot be compromised,
the music in my head must mesh
with the bubbling lyrics....
the poetry of music, the music
of poetry, they are the same....
I like a poem that you can dance to
so why don't you just call me twinkle toes
and spin me 'cross the fucking floor

I need a handle....a nickname.....a moniker that fits
but maybe , just maybe all these poems
are just a big fat waste of time.... no offense
to those of you that have gained weight, but
I'm trying to emphasize the magnitude of the potentially wasted time here
man and pen, black ink on a yellow pad
rolling along these unblemished blue highways, well
it does sound better if you characterize it that way,
but back to my original point
Who the Fuck Cares ?

about my silly obsession meant to
pander to my unrelenting nature
it's a a legitimate question albeit rather insignificant one
as relevant inquiries are measured, shall we mention
my two left feet now ?
it's the kind of thing that old poets who have written a million lines or more
obsess about in the middle of the night.......nothing more
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Wow, Steve! Stripping yourself poetically one word at a time...

Those "old poets" in all that I know (not much!), weren't prone to reveal their aching egos... heartaches were as far as they might touch upon.

Good read that popped the cork of a much needed cleansing of the soul. ;)

how many times
have I tried to capture in a photo
the way late-afternoon sunlight
paints a filigree of hemlock twiglets?

how many times
have I built a bookcase
or a chest
or a table
that wobbled on the flattest of floors?

how many times
have I been friend-zoned
by women I've tried to enchant?
or written short stories
that went nowhere?
...
elusive success is grandly triumphant
but
(IMMHO)
trying is nobler
.
"Falsehood flies, the Truth comes limping after it." - Jonathan Swift, ca. 1710
