Write About

i was going to write about love
....but count the times it's been done...
i was going to write about pain
....but it hurts to even remind myself...
i was going to write about war
....but it's too fucking political...
i was going to write about politics
...but how boring can that get?
i was going to write about mythology
...but that old time religion doesn't do it...
i was going to write about god
...but that is such a far-reaching subject...
i was going to write about the beats
...but is there anything left to say?
i was going to write about leftovers
...but there's nothing left...
i was going to write about bullshit
...but that gets piled up too high...
i was going to write about sex
...but that might make me horny...
So, i'll just write
A B O U T
and leave it at that.

I often feel everything has been said, as well
so why bother.....but I am compelled it seems
to try and find a fresh spin around the block
sometimes I surprise myself, but others I simply crash

McLaughlin Trail
Burgess Road
Swamp Road
Millers Trail
West Road
River Road
I've hiked them all and more
many times
old familiar byways
same old landmarks
but every time
there's something new to see
well
ALMOST every time....

maybe it's all been said
but maybe there's a permutation
a certain arrangement of words
an angle
an image
a metaphor
not yet expressed
casting the old idea
in a new light
.

Nothing new under the burning sun. Or is there?

I always wondered if wonder was mostly seeing things for the first time, bound to fade with familiar repetition. Or maybe wonder was more about the right kind of eyes, seeing things as if for the first time, each time...

I like it! About that
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
