Return of Rain Man (a moment)

Post by mnaz » May 17th, 2022, 4:04 am

The first rain drop plopped on my cheek
on a muffler shop parking lot in Santa Fe,
and I knew I still had my rain powers.
I knew they still followed me.

I pushed into town the night before
to the smell of smoke, ravaging fires,
a big plume over the Sangre de Cristos,
but now they were buried in blue rain.

Yes! Not sure if it was enough to turn the tide, but it looked promising. And I like to tell myself my own myth of having special powers in the desert. I'm sure everyone is suitably annoyed by now ... though the muffler shop guy was thanking me ...

For sure. Looks like my "powers" are waning. A bit of rain was helpful, but not enough to really turn things around. Still 299,000 acres on fire and 26% contained as of early this morning. At least the wind has died down.
