Kill me if you need to

Post by Doreen Peri » September 26th, 2024, 3:04 am

I’ve made mistakes in life.
Can’t go back to reverse them.
There’s no Time Machine!
No way to disperse them.

They remain in memory
Like a documentary.
So I try to sleep
While I curse them.

If I hurt you, I’m sorry,
It wasn’t my intent.
My life is almost over
This was how it’s spent.

Am I a bad person?
Who the hell knows.
I tried. No lie.
The devil’s exposed.

Kill me if you need to.
I deserve it, I suppose.

You're not a bad person. We make mistakes and we might be a bad person for awhile (wear it, own it), but if our heart is usually in the right place, you live to fight (or make peace) another day

Some people might think I am, but of course I’m not. I’m a good person. It’s just a poem written to the people who don’t care about me anymore. lol … I’m ok. Just tried to write a poem for a change. That’s how I started 30+ years ago— rhyming. I should write songs. Anyway thx for reading and for your kind comment.

I'd dig it if you were the word dancer again. We have our styles and I have to confess, I miss Litkicks. Levi had a powerhouse going for awhile.

Yeah it was great! I think litkicks was a public forum for maybe 2 years. It started out being his blog, then he opened up forums where we all met. Two years I think, he kept it open.

Studio8, on the other hand, has been open for over 20 years. I can’t remember the date offhand, oh yeah… July 2004… it’s been a long long long time!

No comparison to the sites. People here got their own forums (art logs/studios)… we added artwork ad music forums. It was a lot of work and whole lot of fun! WordJams!! Events! It’s been a great run. I sure do miss Judih and all her help. And I miss my son, eyelidlessness, who helped for a while, and of course I miss Lightning Rod (Clay) but here we are 22(?) years later and we still have a good jam going on with our regulars like you. Sure wish I had met you in person one day! I met a lot of people here. Many!! But not you yet unfortunately.

Anyway I’m always going to be the Word Dancer… see? Here I am dancing words in public again! It’ll never end 😉

Love ya, Mark! Thx for your talents and support and participation!

This poem says something I deal with almost daily - the self-doubts, the endless replaying of old verbal mishaps, and the unresolved issue of who the asshole really was. "Was it me after all? Was he/she right and I was totally in the wrong? But what about....??" The old "what I shoulda said" game. I like the idea that it could be a song lyric. And it's good seeing you back in action!

reflections not always pretty
put a finger in the water
watch the ripples change it
and relax
I'd rather learn from one bird how to sing than teach 10,000 stars how not to dance.

So many things! Day to day.
If you are trying it’s perfect.
Know it’s all a crap shoot.
Nobody hits the bulls eye every time
The beauty of life is we just are
There is no empty space
