It was wide open when I was young.
Then some of the roads closed.
Some hit fences, or ridges
with only star terrains beyond.
I wandered on a spinning rock
in a crowd of stars, a lump of iron
and silica, fickle moon in tow,
alone, like a Las Vegas gambler
at a table in a crowd.

Yep. Earth as a ramblin' gamblin' rock alone in a crowd of stars with its fickle moon tagging along (never the same place nor face in the sky) ...
