the toe she flicks protects my love
the gun she holds is blood
my mind is all across my eyes
she entertains some wild notion;
strip tease bedroom poker.
a blank stare permits me nothing.
the city rattled as the sweat drip fell
onto the silver tray. we rattled
the city with our song
poker face down
poker face
down
bedroom poker

one eyed jacks are wild
but she trumped me with the queen of hearts
last tango in the bathroom
she loved to watch the movies
she wrote her scripts behind her brown eyes
I did not want to know
she never made suggestions
and I just let it flow naturaly
but I always tagged along with her to see the movies
and as I stood behind
she was watching me in the mirror above the sink
that woman loved to watch people
later she said "I did not like that"
and I asked her why she did not say something
and she answered "it was just what was happening"
been thirty years of hell without her
but I am a better man now than I was
a man who thought he knew women
a sweet mystery
the wonder of the world
so I don't complain about my chances
for me woman WAS the only game in town
NOW
I lean on silicon sisters
just to keep my heart from freezing
somewhere out west the sun sets on a beach in oregon
I have a picture of her from twenty years ago and she looked happy,
and my love for her still rises in the east
