do what comes un-naturally

Post by creativesoul » October 3rd, 2005, 10:23 pm

ya know i was watching his face, the face that crawled from my womb an became a young boy, covered in mud, salt water and surf. the kid that drove me nutz, he became a young man, polite, generous of spirit, kind.
his friends introduced themselves to me, and said "good job" smiling and laughing
i couldnt take the credit
he did it really
catching the barrels, going to meetings working the steps, he did it
he had a support group, he had a life of his own.
he was the son that made my life make sense
he told me things like
if you are used to staying up late, go to bed early
wake up early
try something different
what is your part in it mom?
so i did
and he was right
i still see the first passport photo
him leaning. and my big hand holding him up
the suitcases and black markets we bought baby items from in africa
i saw him grow into a man
and now he is like a tree that gives life
he talks to me about girlfriends, films he s making
and his weekend excursions to retreats
bands he s playing in
and i just have to say thank you
because letting go
is the most painful
most freeing experience i have ever had
sometimes the people you let go of, come back with stories
a friend i have had for many years
came on sunday with her son
her mother and alot of memories
we went to sat market in portland
and had breakfast
was so beautiful to watch and listen to the generations
her son has never had any sugar. and is so intelligent
he loves rocks
he knows all their names
growing into the person i have always wanted to be
surrounded by people that love
to love
is more than i could have ever hoped for
healing ceremonies
and lodges
wipe away the tears
and build the way for the next world
as each prayer finds it s way to an unpredictable answer
listen carefully to the winds
smile as it quenches the thirst like water
removing the things that do not belong there
doing what comes naturally is sometimes super natural
and does not belong to me
set it free

Not to sound repetitive, but man, I dig reading your stuff.
It's hypnotic, in a wonderful way for me.

Yeah!

Thank you-
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

beautiful story c-soul....and I totally get it...we did what we could, but at some point they have to fly....there is music and comfort and joy in the beating wings....this poem has a lovely flow to it.....the mighty river of truth
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
