I've felt this way before and you stated it quite clearly ... I know this feeling. Well done!

Question... I counted the syllables and it's 5-7-5 like they teach the standard haiku.

What makes this a senryu?

I'm familiar with the term but I never really studied the format. What's the difference between haiku and senryu?

a senryu is a 3-line unrhymed Japanese poem structurally similar to haiku but treating human nature usually in an ironic or satiric vein
