Drugs and Doughnuts

Heavily sedated
I staggered to the window
and gazed out at Mars
I saw red
and two moons
who knew
there would be
bums in outer space
Grabbing a cigarette from my pocket
I lit up
and coughed a breath
Groggily I faced my situation
and wondered
how the hell I got into this mess

If I ever get to heaven
if I ever get to Rome
will the Creator bolt and lock the door
and make me do it all again
Christ I hope not
I barely survived the first time
Well there's always drugs and doughnuts

to see me through
I woke up screaming
to the lovely strains

and sure enough
it was raining
