my heart seeks a rock to fall into yet not become like a stone
that sings in a pond of mirrors that drink themselves into a
somber bliss so intense that all the magazine covers applaud
my folly as a indian maiden floated up to touch me at the rocks
fire of the lips opening to allow cheek bones to turn and become
a cliff there the sleeping poets leap off into the endless poem awake
at the usual street corner when the ancient newspaper arrived
to open its pages to the ocean's feather just as the tears of the
neon sunset crystalize and the painting is more important then
the sun in a cup of cities like liquid thunder smoking a pipe in
a storefront window surrounded by seahorses and buddhas
