I hoped my echoes

Post by joel » May 11th, 2006, 10:50 am

I hoped my echoes cross some canyon hear—
too wide across it may have been that voice
return, or yet perhaps I never breached
void open space to birth reflection’s chance—
and, statuesque upon the precipice,
much wanted more my love from you to hear
repeated. Are you really so away
from me you cannot bring yourself to say
a simple Yes, I Love You? But I fear
that, even if you would, my prejudice
prefers you silent stay. How happenstance
may well suggest my happiness is reached
the more when you ignore me— to rejoice
in love, if unrequited, but dear.

Damn sounds like the writer loves misery, but yeah if all they say is lies then silence is better. This is a fantastic poem my friend. Your thought pattern blows me away. "C"

I hoped my echoes would stop coming back to me.

I was going to quote my favorite lines from this but then decided every damned line was fine.

I don't find this sad at all. I think you speak well for the condition of love, unrequited or no.

Oh, hell, I just gotta quote this...
my prejudice
prefers you silent stay.
puts me in mind of my favorite Cohen lines

"If it be your will
That I speak no more
And my voice be still
As it was before
I will speak no more
I shall abide until
I am spoken for
If it be your will"

Thanks for this read joel...sometimes you give old Shakeyspeare a run for his money.

love can feel like torture
but it can be really good
it is a choice
which do you prefer?
takes a bit of energy they say
maybe it will come TO YOU YOUR WAY
