Francois DuBonneaire the Legionnaire

Post by mtmynd » January 1st, 2007, 6:38 pm

It wasn't long after
Francois DuBonneaire
joined the legionnaire
when he received a
letter that brought tears
that ran from eyes swollen
with a loss, never to return.

Francois had learned
that his lover had
been killed in
an accident that
left her lifeless
and cold by the
side of a road
empty of breath
and a love never
fully explored.

Her carriage ride
from work to home
took an unavoidable
detour that the
driver had not known
and with rain pouring
from a pestilent sky
angry with the world
struck its fury with
a lightning bolt nearby

the two horses they
cowered and stumbled
one fell heavy with sound
the other barely able
fought to stand its ground

but alas, the carriage
complete with Ms.Genet
tumbled over like a die
over and over upon
the wet ground leaving
her only to surrender
her life to the mad rain
Francois so heartbroken,
not one particle of joy
left remaining within,
went out walking the
hot desert blistered
by the boiling sun
armed with his gun.

He could no longer
go on and so placed
the cocked pistol -
engraved in letters
that simply spelled
"Trina" to his head.

The shot rang out
the echoes running
fast and furiously
as if trying to catch
the stop of death
but the redness of
Francois' blood stained
the rusty sands leaving
tracks of loss never
to be walked upon again.
