Little Tarot Story: Six of Cups

Ee-vee, eye-vee, overhead, the rope slaps the ground and swings up with unstoppable momentum. Raises the hair on the top of your head and buzzes past your ears and slaps again while you hover in midair. When I get out of this chair I’ll play jump rope. I’ll find some little girls who want to play jump rope and I’ll bring the rope. Even before the accident I didn’t do that, when I could have. But I will. Oh yeah.

And now, another cup of tea. I will open a new box: Hibiscus Spice, imported Chinese. I really should re-use the last bag, but I don’t want plain black tea again. And anyway, there are people in Shreveport on the boat right now making bets with twenty thousand dollars. What’s a tea bag. Oh yeah.

Cinderella, dressed in yella went upstairs to kiss her fella
Made a mistake and kissed a snake
How many doctors did it take …

The Tarot is a very special thing to me.
I don't know why.
I'm not a mystic (ok, maybe I am)
but the richness of symbolism
entrances me

One of the things that I find interesting is the fact that the cards are represented graphically in so many varied ways. There are many versions of the Tarot.

I have never seen that particular representation of the six of cups.

But every card has a story to tell. That's why I love it.

Jenni,

I adore your style of writing here, just flowing thought and well constructed and I have The Sacred Circle Myself. Very nice indeed. Nice and tight writing.

Thanks, Susan and all for stopping by!

My favorite form of fiction is the short story - it is interesting to try to get the most character and story impact in the fewest words. With these Little Tarot Stories I'm cheating a little, since part of the character and potential plot for each of them is created prior to and aside from my little canvas. I like using the tarot as a springboard right now, though - it helps me to use creative chaos in my writing.

What is The Sacred Circle?

All the best, JMP
