For anyone who lives near Williamsburg--
William & Mary's Geology Dep't hosts an annual Art Meets Science event for Earth Day. It started with poetry, but I think it pulls in different media now. Earth-themed art goes on display in the Geology Dep't Library and it's a great tool for brining out amateur lit from a bunch of science nerds (we love it anyhow). Worth checking out if you're in the area....

as roots my faith in sure geology.

I bless you, Rock; and name a metaphor
in you that somehow condescends to kiss
my highest intellect and yet transcends
to touch my basest foolishness with lips
expected crystalline, but gentle— soft
and morphological, contextual—
—You press against my sole and sole to walk,
you earthy mumble in my soul like talk
discerned from cosmic verses. You are full
of mysteries I long to know and oft
I think on you; and thank what love equips
me to investigate you more, what sends
me back to you again. Forgive me this:
you need me not; I can’t not you adore.
