the twisting of the stories
like the colors
of gold and flesh
reptile is burnt in your mind
feeling the rough texture
believing it’s a rock
smooth is the surface
of rippling rivers
you choose a belief
of contemporary ideals
but you touch
rub- back and fourth
and declare
that you can see through your finger tips
as they slide down the ridge
of my soul
into my crevice
with the cost of a gem
