Christmas 1984

i went to my brother's for Christmas

and we went across the Street

to have a holiday season's Toke
at his across the street Neighbor's
sweet marijuana smells Wafting
the neighbor's an ex-Marine
was in vietnam So
my brother wanted me to Meet
him as i Was
in vietnam Too
we are Smoking

the ex-marine asks me "What
do you think about C.O.'s?"
"do you mean Conscientious
objectors?" i Asked
"no," he yelled, "i Mean
commanding officers i Hate
commanding officers!" i Said
"we hated our Commanding

Yoeh, I sent it out so my family could read it. I thought that my brother might like it, but all he had to say is that it reminded him of Beethoven's 5th. I wrote back to him, Beethoven's fifth of what?

There is a perceptual gap. Conscripted out.

No telling how my sisters and mom will react. Probably no comment.

I had heard something on the radio while driving that 50% of all on-line computer users have web searched their own name. So I Googled my name, best choice, and got another JW's family website, so I Googled again, best choice, JW veteran, and came up with the vets for peace poetry page/

I am renewing my connection with local VFP, right now laboriously helping the process of next years board elections, plus am going up to Countryside HS and getting a form to fill out so I can speak there to a class about Vietnam, altho at this late date, am not sure when it will happen.

It's good to have community, both physically and cyberly.
