Flexible Flutes

[Lightning Rod]

the flute only works because it's hollow
the pond only reflects because it is shallow
the bond only breaks because it is brittle
there is a lesson to be learned from the willow

what bends will not break, the tree of tai chi
if only the willow were hollow, it could make flutes
but even bamboo flexes in it's own rigid way
it lies down with the wind and pretends to be hollow

Hollow may be a perfect conduit, and depth will forever challenge scholars. And reflection seems a function of stillness
