Waiting for the second coming.

Post by mnaz » December 29th, 2007, 9:47 pm

chorus 1

the silo'd nukes and desert fire
waiting for the second coming.
the rotten roof and threadbare tire,
waiting for the second coming.
the mortars flare and verses roar,
waiting for the second coming.
i'll meet you there on yonder shore,
waiting for the second coming.

one day the long towers collapsed,
as the world tipped over on its plane,
and i went off to see my preacher,
just to inquire about the pain.
he said it's all part of the lord's plan,
and we should not be dismayed,
at that which blew my last bridge,
of faith and hope belayed.

one day the vendors came callin',
sleek weapons hard to the sky,
and fine laser-guided scripture,
like surgical strikes from on high.
they came for the latest new markets,
in which they might ply their trade,
death merchants of the almighty,
his voice they must obey.

one day the old farmers had breakfast,
read from the bible, the verses they pegged.
they spoke the word 'truth' again and again,
over bacon and coffee and eggs.
they said the muslims are out to kill us,
'tho christ will save us from the flood,
but it must get much worse before better,
o' rapturous river of blood.

chorus 2
the paper hawks and plastic flags,
waiting for the second coming.
the shooting first, and then we'll talk,
waiting for the second coming.
the buzzword speech, and all killin's fair,
waiting for the second coming.
i hope someday to meet you there,
waiting for the second coming.

THE END (for now)

note: made a few adjustments.

For the best effects of this, I suggest we form a circle and all hold hands while reciting it.
Powerful chant and or song Mnaz.
Hats off,

splendiferous vehiculosity.
hope belayed
execellent spoken word sounds.
I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.
