Sugarspeak

Post by saw » July 11th, 2008, 10:44 am

metaphors languish,
his pen goes limp,
he knows there are pills
for erectile dysfunction
so he naturally wonders
if there is a tonic
for delinquent tongue

he sees an ad
on late night television
and pays a visit
to the back room
of a little shop
Rod Serling would have said
sat on the edge of reality

could you inject my brain, doc
with a little of that gooey dye
cooking there on the stove,
give me a quick scan
with your x-ray craniometer,
identify the loafing tissue,
and remove the defective
lazy glob,

replace it
with some of that Smart Jello
sittin' there on the shelf,
I'd prefer raspberry
with extra sweetener
if you don't mind
so I can write syrupy prose,
sumptuous poetry

the label says, words will
drip from the page, run down my leg,
get stuck on my shoes,
is this correct?
Oh, I see you also carry
Genius Bars, Clever Blossom Honey
and Virtuoso Pudding,
What? you don't take cash,
checks or plastic?

Then how in the world
will I pay you?
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

wanted: inspiration. name the price.

there are those times when
writer's blocks are stacked all around,
tomb-like, suffocating the desire to create
but then all of a sudden a crack of light!
inspiration strikes and renewal arrives.

enjoyed the read, saw.

thanx ...mtmynd and truck for reading and responding....peace

the mundane chores of life seem like albatrosses 'round the neck
some weeks....

it's good to have a place to visit where people tell their stories.....
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

saw : "it's good to have a place to visit where people tell their stories..."

i agree with that 100%. it's always a pleasure for me to open S8 and see this amazing abundance of writing that spans the imaginative bridges in wonder, humor, drama and new dimensional thinking. that's what S8 is all about (to me, anyhoo) as art moves onward and forward thru our new millennium.
