Shade Tree Heaven

Post by WIREMAN » July 15th, 2008, 10:56 pm

we set our igloos
there @ 10 to six
amidst the gravel
and rebar debris
as the sun begins
to rise on another
96 degrees in the
shade day
momentary trips
there and a shot
of gatorade tease
the senseless
like slaves we make
the scale as the stain
of salt covers our
wet shirts
11:25 divine time
we sit for 1/2 hour
sipping sodas beneath
the grace of that
old shade tree
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

rod-bustin' in summer heat.
seems like we've built so many of these places already.

learned the craft of shade in the desert.
it's not plentiful, it takes some imagination,
the simple grace of shade.

a workaday world nicely portrayed.

The only thing I trip on here is:

another
96 degrees in the
shade day

...and then later

the grace of that
old shade tree

the two seem in conflict

great poem, mark

I walked outside to think about it
