Issac
(for Hanshan, with many, many thanks out to Still Trucking, for it was on his post about Hanshan that the idea for this piece was born, and for all the members, each & every one of you, of the Studio 8 tribe - I love all the help I get around here, and all the laughter too.) PS - I have it on authority that, in ancient Hebrew, the name Issac means "He laughs"
Guy down to work today said to me,"I'm more of a recluse, your weekends should be your own." I laughed, nodding my head yes with the sentiment.
...a man reads his own gods, and maps them best he can.
Sometimes sucking fire through the pipe
you can hear the whistle of the little tornado
you are making with wind of time and distance.
And you hold back a smile for all the sucking you gave
in order to hear that whistle.
It's that whistle.
That whistle...
Guy down to work today said to me, "I'm more of a recluse,
a man's weekends should be his own." I laughed, at one with
admitting intimate acquaintaince with the sentiment.
but, maybe, I was just listening
to that whistle...
Lord, sometimes I just want to make it
really howl
Issac

"God said to Abraham, 'Kill me a son.'
Abe said, 'God, you must be puttin' me on.'
God said, 'Abe?'
Abe said, 'What?'
God said, 'you can do what you want, Abe, but...
the next time you see me comin', you'd better run'
Abe said, 'Where you want this killin done?'
God said, 'Out on Highway 61.'"
---greatest blues lyric ever written
(when I wanted to hear the whistle, I would turn the water on in the bathroom sink)

I never heard of Hanshan till last week
when Wireman mentioned him
I have heard of Issac
But who remembers Iphigenia?
Her father was famous
I think his name was Kerouac
As much beauty as he gave us
such sadness too.
Sorry for the ramble
thank you

Arcadia - yeah, scholars of ancient Hebrew often are in vigorous disagreement about whole phrases but when it comes to the names they usually chime together. For Issac its "He Laughs" or "Laughter".
Thanks for reading.
ST - Thanks for standing me straight on that, I didn't know you & Wireman were passing it back & forth. So,you're both to blame for this Hanshan fella, many thx to the both of you then.
mnaz - Sometimes my efforts happen out straightforward, other times they are like Pollock paintings, a drip here, a splash there. Believe me, my friend, all my friends, I never mean to confuse or muddy the waters. Sometimes I just follow the words that come, more interested in the fun of it than in the sense of it. I only play with words, I'm not a poet like many of you are. Many times you guys just put heart wrenching knots in my soul with the things you write and I can only go Wow!...I'm floored by it all. Thanks for reading, mnaz, and for telling me ya did.

Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.
