Old Notes, #29

Post by mnaz » November 1st, 2008, 6:25 pm

Rush Limbaugh is enlightened and living our dream.

I heard about the drive-by shootings, like a Grumman F-14.
But that's Old Skool. Carve out a piece of nature,
though Anti-Nature is nature like that too.
Legacy will be mine!

I met an eighty-year-old World War Two vet in a godawful desert bar.
It wasn't a godawful bar because of the desert.
He was smaller than me and quiet and could kick my ass.
He had a look of humility and told me how his entire outfit
was nearly wiped out on the South Pacific Island of Saipan.
He saw their eyes and spoke softly. I saw his eyes.
He invited me to his house a mile or two down.
I should have gone; I should have listened.
But it was a godawful bar in the desert.
I never listen.

Clearly, Obama is a losing bet.
I am a mountain lion driven to the hills.
The Either Or could get me sooner or later.
One or the other.

There will be times
when we have no choice but to go to war.
It's chiseled into my history, the one I make.
Okay, so life is short. So what?
Mantra of aggressionism.
I coined a word.

Play some rage rock.
We're playing in the shadow of the Cold War.
Okay, here's the thing: which Wars weren't cold?
It doesn't matter, tattooed in DNA.

Okay, I understand my right point of view.
To keep an ever-tightening grip on shrinking things.
Hell, I was almost a Republican or Democrat.
Hell, I was almost drafted.
Damn socialism.

Here's to the as Tom Brokow would call them "The Greatest Generation Of All Time". They fought in World War II but they couldn't fight to stop the Cold War.

Thanks truck, Dave. Maybe I wrote about the Saipan vet on S-8 before.. I don't think so.. I'll never forget the guy. He was about 84 years old and in really good shape, sitting alone in that terrible redneck whiskey dive. He quietly told me some terrible stories.

He quietly told me some terrible stories.
I wonder why so many combat veterans become truck drivers.

The most terrible story I heard was from a sleeper team partner of mine.

Do you know the difference between cowboys and truck drivers?
The cowboys got the bullsheet on the outside of their boots.

But I knew it was a true story. It did not happen in Saipan or Vietnam,

It was about a killing in a dark alley behind a red neck bar in some city I can't name.
To protect the guilty.

THis was a dynamite post mark,
but i did like the previous title better.

This one has much of the "universal" in it.

We are no doubt the most able killers to stalk this planet. It is tattooed into our nature it seems

>right here I need a funkadelic song about:

"I knew I had to rise above it
or drown in my own sheeeet"<

please pardon the ramble

Clearly, Obama is a losing bet.
I am a mountain lion driven to the hills.

Lawd save us from ourselves! Reprogram that damn tattoed DNA. Gene Splicing, Eugenics, anything but that awful horror of war. I don't wanna sit through the movie, I wanna go home. Don't leave my hamlet a smoking ruin. Will somebody please help me!

Excellent poem my friend. All kidding aside this poem illuminated things.

John
