Speaking of star wars when the Saudi Prince or King visited Buckingham palace about a month ago the British Military band started playing Darth Vader’s theme song I forget what it is called, The Evil Empire National Anthem? According to the BBC they just liked the tune; the band was not making a political statement.

Is that for reals? Hadn't heardo'it. Yeah, right they didnt know its a polit. statement!

Well no it isn't - it was written by John Williams specifically for the Star Wars score! British sense of humour? Practical joke?..

Campbell really liked those Star wars movies, he saw George Lucas as a myth maker. But I don't think Joe was a nude age fruit cake. I think he was a wise man. But you know I wish he could have given me a metaphor to work with for the holocaust. Many books I have lost, one that bugs me was about the Jews and their historical religion compared to the Greeks and their historical science. There is a fundamental difference between how the Hebrews concieved of time and how the Greeks did.

Myth writers (and fans) are too nice. Lucas is Disney, more or less. Campbell not quite as pop, but close. Even something like Macbeth rather more real--and terrifying. Good guys lose. The heroes are typical scumbags too. The Minotaur kicks Perseus's ass. Circe turns soldiers into swine, etc. But Ho-wood usually can't deal with that, except in some kitchy way like Tarentino.
