AM radio

You touch me like I’m AM radio
with gentle nuanced finger-taps. You swerve
to catch advice or car talk, scratchy jazz
or Spanish-language lovesongs like a friend
on distant naked roads for company—
you hunt to catch my lovesongs clear for you.
You push me and you gamble clarity
but fear you’ll pass the fragile parity
between us. Tune me to your wavelength, to
your soundscape, to whatever frequency
allows us conversation; let me bend
to resonate because I love you as
you don’t believe you love deserve—
don’t lose me in the static radio.

in the static I heard the noise of regret
I twiddled the knob
tried to tune re-tune
fidget
but static it is
and static I'll always get

"you don’t believe you love deserve"

did you mean, "you don't believe your love deserves."

?
didn't know if it was a typo
you are usually so meticulous about the subjects of tense and meter

I know this is not a critique forum, but I couldn't help but notice

It could be a matter of punctuation
that's when you need to hear it from the lips of the poet
just to be sure
be sure

Well, don't mind me
I'm just goofin'

and it often gets the better of me

I wasn't accusin' you of critiquin'

I think critiquing in general
on this forum
is okey dokey

*shuffles off to Baltimore tongue imbedded half way in cheek*

First up, thanks for supportive comments! Second off, I'm always up for critique...my training's in geology, counseling and theology--I'm a learner lookin' for teachers. Always.

I meant it as: let me bend [myself] to resonate because I love you [in ways in which] you don't believe you deserve [to receive] love.

And I live in an old concrete apartment (for a couple more days). No AM radio for me either.

Maybe not clear...I try to keep to rhythms to keep me from wandering too far away. Doesn't generate clarity as much a lines in which to color. But thanks for kind words!
