Last Poem

yer only as good as your last poem, baby
succinct soliloquys
rasta criticisms and twelve steps at a time
an erect perspective, inject, reflect, inspect
and count the hours, the hours of our lives
and divide and counterpoint the rigid sonatas
off the end of the scale, make my bail, the maximum
six percent sythesized to mcdonald's dynasties
interesting aztecs with their calendars and extracted hearts
jutting into the minute held aloft and sacrificed
super-nova kid's meal double fries designer greasy envelope
digits on a credit card banked and seedless thrashed
admission to the stadium franchise wandering
go maximized like a jpeg lounging on the universe
web of dimensions, souls floundering on the internet
I don't need concentration; I need dope.

glaciers snatched tuning up on circumstance
the last poem written was ceturies ago in middle english
on the road to shakespeare rotten amsterdam of
hash and whores relentless tombstones of desire
diluted into lust and indifference. Scattered eschatology.
The planets have no destination but are
slinging, thrust into compulsive orbits
melody against rhythm; melody against
the stock market for oh nine kay
the milky weigh is more than a candy bar
the last poem was seen leaving the building
elvis lusting after joan of arc smoking crack
from a staight glassed by centuries
i'm not nostrodamus
can't see millenia unfold
poems are extinct as miracles
and belief in what is untold
watch it unfold
unfold

good title for a book, l-rod
and good poem

(thinking about the pink cover of your poet's eye collection. why pink? surely it's intentional. Is it to attract a yin frame of mind in your reader? is it a reflection of your mood? or is it a lucky break from a zlatko portrait)

No, it isn't quite like that..

that last poem.

mnaz,

you got it right. The reason it's pink was because of Zlatko's portrait
I thought about changing the color in photoshop but it's sort of growing on me

Scattered escatology
.

That's eschatology.

An interesting "poem"--or at least a few sections are.
look for it soon

thanks judih, I thought the title was kinda catchy

I just finished editing it this morning and now I am typesetting
I hate this part
tedious and boring and exacting
but it's gonna be a killer book
which won't matter a bit
because poetry books don't sell
:(

Tote--thanks for the heads-up on my speling, I'll edit

I've always been vague on the meaning of the word eschatology
I know it's the study of something
I know what scatology is
the study of doo doo
but eschatology eludes me
maybe you could give me a dissertation

... as in, last poem...

(...so "tired" last night that I tripped on that).

last one until the next, it seemed...
"souls floundering on the internet" will virtually guarantee it.

mornin mnaz

I decided to make this the first poem in my collection
I thought it was indicative of my personality
to eat dessert first

"life is uncertain, eat dessert first" an old Morman proverb. Well maybe not, I think it was a bumper sticker I saw in Salt Lake City.

I enjoyed reading it clay thanks.
Best wishes for success

Oh yeah

The choice of this as a first poem of a collection (excellent I think) reveals your musician's sensibilitity in compiling a tasty set list.
