stolen thought

Ok, I stole this from General Discussion...and I figure if that was imporper to do and move around, Doreen's got the power to erase it from here. But you get me thinking...and I'm not a professional writer and I make no claims that this is my gift in life, but I am thankful to have a community within which to think and ponder and explore.
Doreen wrote:As a matter of fact, I hate the word "boss."
I call my boss "my employer." Why? Because I used to call her my client
but now that I work for her on salary, she's my employer. But she is
NOT my boss. She will never be my boss. I don't like getting bossed
around. As I'm sure you don't.

Whoever you may be. All of you.
A costly grace I’ve gathered from my cross
examination of your witness to
my loss of self-determination: you
affect my destiny or utilize
my servant talents—nonetheless, though, are
they mine; and what I give, I give alone—
and when I pray that you’ve forsaken me
I claim my own accountability
for what I now receive—and you condone
what’s done to me for shame—and not by far
for bloody need, but since you sympathize
with how my soul submits to what is true
obedience from me in love to you—
my owner, my employer—not my boss.

joel, you have omitted a very important word from this piece
that word is SLAVE

indenture, if you need a dactyl
(a foot with three syllables, the first accented and the second two un-accented)

you called me on it. thanks. i was hoping to slip under the radar...since i pulled the move i hate most in modern english biblical translation. the scripture doesn't talk about servants...it explicitly talks about slaves. and i dodged it for the sake of my iambs. ...but the scripture also takes about repentance and metanoia... so here I go:

A costly grace I’ve gathered from my cross
examination of your witness to
my loss of self-determination: you
employ my destiny or utilize
my
chattel talents—nonetheless, though, are
they mine; and what I give, I give alone—
and when I pray that you’ve forsaken me
I claim my own accountability
for what I now receive—and you condone
what’s done to me for shame—and not by far
for bloody need, but since you sympathize
with how my soul submits to what is true
obedience from me in love to you—
my owner, my employer—not my boss.

Fine writing, joel! Glad to inspire you!

Lightning Rod, your link doesn't work.

Something's wrong with the code.. Want me to try to fix it?

....

Never mind.. it can't be fixed unless you paste just the URL without the rest of the code
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dactyl_(poetry)
Probably because the phpbb code doesn't like the parentheses.
And if you look at it that way with just the URL, it still doesn't get the whole thing on here... to hit the whole link, you have to have the ending which is _(poetry) in it and for some reason the phpbb isn't making the entire thing a link.

Not trying to be yer boss or anything. Just thought you might want me to be your slave and help out. :D
