As waters serve as symbols of your will,
O Love, I meditate on you—how molecules
of watered-life-necessity depend
on full agreement, right relation of
three atoms’ independent energies
in one sublime, divine, united place—
may Love be poured like rivers on the dry
expanse of who I am, forgive what I
would rather claim as self-engendered grace.
I contemplate the endless synergies
on which I’d rather lean than lone on Love—
as oxygen innocuous I rend
me in your watered will; I burn like fools
where hydrogen peroxide tortures kill.
