the voice of yesterday - by Krista

Post by Doreen Peri » November 22nd, 2007, 2:42 am

Here's a poem written by my daughter's friend, Krista.
Krista is 14 years old. She asked me to share it here.
______________

suffer and sink into the sand
reach to grab for no ones hand
close your eyes as you are enveloped
darkness requried to develop
plunge into a world unknown
cope with it by getting stoned
make your fate in attempted states
while others attempt to immitate
they raise false idols and clevor decoys
their pale voices fade against the noise
now you are left standing bare
like a butterfly first greeting the air
before you now a journey to take
one you may choose to be real or fake
so spread your wings and fly away
into the voice of yesterday

The child does far better with her writing than I did at that age . I am impressed :)
I'll hold on to this gift we share
it is as slippery as it is rare
I'll hold on to that feeling
of waking and finding you there
I'll hold on to you and you hold on to me
