dawn in the fog

catpaws of the dawn
she wears her foggy robe
hopes slip unnoticed
no fanfare of pinks and grays

it's a dawn rising silence
like the parapets before battle
quiet spoiled only
by the scratching of my pen

The best poems
are made of solitude and silence

reminds me of exploring Chloride Cliff above Death Valley-- no breeze that day for a couple of hours... substitute 'scratching pen' with 'roar of breathing'...

A moment that stands out...

reminds one of Yeats or whomever else.

does that first line alluded to an existing poem? sumthin bout that dawn cat's paws bit sounds awfully familiar?

FOG
by Carl Sandburg

THE fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
....

nice poem, rod

I understand this poem a little better now
It is pretty
I enjoyed reading it.
It Took me awhile because
I kept flashing back to

Fog on the interstate
Man that is a whole other poem
about ass clenching fear.

i find an unusual contrast in you LR

on the one hand you are a wild haired rebel
and yet
you are composed and thoughtful

interesting

warm thoughts your way.
