Wild crows

Post by hester_prynne » December 10th, 2007, 8:30 pm

Befriending you,
led me
to forgive
my father.
He was
all he could be.
Nothing personal.
Bewildered
at my mother's
heartbreak,
disappointment,
sorrow.

Wild crows
loved him.
They'd fill
any tree,
he stood under.
Fellow
freedom scavengers.
Drunkenly enchanted
by each minute,
hardly inclined,
to remember,
a thing.
"I am a victim of society, and, an entertainer"........DW

I don't know what to say to someone when they write a poem that clicks for me.
like a gestalt
my mind fills in blanks.

For so many years I lived in fear of being my father's son
Wild crows
loved him.
They'd fill
any tree,
he stood under.
Strange thing is my sister forgave him long ago, but she has not made her peace with our mother yet. But she is doing better.

Did not mean to tell you my life story, just trying to say how much I thank you for this poem. And I don't even know why it was helpful to me. Just thank you.

I will probably dream about him tonight, standing under that tree. An eidetic image for me. Geezus h christ theda, you amaze me.

that's writing with a sharp pencil, hest

I had an experience a couple of days ago
I awoke before dawn
I was sitting and smoking on the balcony
visibility less than a quarter mile
it was dead quiet before the dawn
as the light began to appear
I heard a great chirping of birds
it swelled to a crescendo, it was coming from the fog
then suddenly I thought I heard an explosion
I actually thought that a bomb had gone off about a mile away
then I heard a sussurant rush
then I saw the birds emerge from the fog
about 500 of them (doves, I think)
they had been roosting in a huge tree halfway down the hill
and the explosion was them all taking off at the same time

anyway, that's my bird story for the day
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

Alternate Rollin' Stones lyric:

Wild crows couldn't tear me apart....
I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.
