on my way

skyline obscure thru
the heavy mist
up a bridge

climb a sky

the next bridge south
on the river bears the train
i'll transfer to
at canal st.

visible thru the mists
of our shrouded islands

another bridge
another train
another direction

i'm on my way
to brooklyn's hinterlands
or its heart.

the transfer:
ah chinatown
packt with people
old chinese ladies
hack & spit in the gutter.

it's the Q train now
out o the ground
manhattan bridge
over chinatown
lower lower east side
south is brooklyn bridge
no trains there.

mahattan bridge bears
4 tracks o trains
2 directions
on 2 separate lines.

diffused light brings
soft shadows
in rhythmic architectural
formations.
