Laws of Awareness

Post by Lightning Rod » December 27th, 2007, 2:06 am

The difference between a slap in the face and a
caress on the cheek is merely a matter of velocity.
awakenings are like invasions
subtly or suddenly
we float through the foam
You have to bring something with you
in order
to take something home

it's the history of persuasion
no salve for sanctimony
comedy is the only reason
only reason to tell your brother
his fly is down, his socks are odd
and there's only a god if you believe in him

His lessons are only as good as our understanding
but Shakespeare is not lost on children
and even Nietzsche can appreciate a fairy tale
You have to bring something with you
in order
to take something home.

Theolonius Monk means nothing
and Coltrane is a mystery
unless you've suckled on dotted eights and sixteenths
and been around the cycle of fifths
You have to bring something with you
in order
to take something home.

Some think the bible just a story
Some think it's history
Some think it the word of God
Some think it's a mockery
You have to brink something with you
in order
to take something home.

the straight line makes the punch line work
lessons learned with no tuition
or those that bite you to the bone
things you know or thought you've known
You have to brink something with you
in order
to take something home.
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

Yes. That's why I told you.
It's a matter of faith.
You can expect documentation
which may be possibly forthcoming
or you can wait.

Either way, you're in trouble
if you decide to ride the veracity bubble.

Your socks don't match and it doesn't fit
the itinerary you've pretended to determine.
A louse is a louse. Vermin.
Doesn't mean I'm calling you that
by pointing out the fact.

Some of us have this, some of us have that.
It's just a matter of distribution.
Sometimes there's permanence.
Sometimes illusion.

Wave the magic wand, let's see.
I'll be you, you be me.

Not much difference, right?
Thought not.
Goodnight.

was that 'brink' from 'bring' a typo orgin'lly?

to the brink of insight.

anywho, it's a great poem!

and over.
I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.
